Dozens of remains in stone casket 1,600 years in Wales

Archaeologists found 86 well-preserved remains and many of Llangefni University's campus artifacts.

The ancient graveyard was discovered by accident when building a road connecting Llangefni University, Wales with the A55 road in 2016. The remains were placed in a small stone casket popularly used in the Bronze Age, some time ago. 4,000 years. These tombs are preserved in good condition, the team said. They also affirmed that not all were local people but also people from other places.

"This is just what was found in half of the archaeological site. The panorama will be erected when Archeology Wales and Brython Archeology organize together and present in a research project , " Dr. Irene Garcia Rovira in Archeology Wales said.

"In our half of the archaeological site, the analysis of the oldest tombs revealed this cemetery existed from the time the Romans left Wales. The isotopic analysis also showed some of the remains that were not Anglesey. For example, there are two people from Scandinavia and two from Iberia, " Rovira added.

During the first excavation, archaeologists found 54 remains. 32 remains were discovered during later excavations. In addition, archaeologists also found a Roman coin from the 2nd century and many bronze ornaments. When the excavation is complete, some items will be displayed at the Oriel Ynys Mon museum.
