Transgender surgery for cats

Cats Mittens in Canada are preparing to have sex regeneration surgery after veterinarians discover it has both male and female genitals.

Colleen Clarke-Murphy, living in the town of Heart's Desire, in Newfoundland and Labrador province, said last year, her daughter brought a stray cat back to her farm because she thought she was abandoned. Her family named the cat Mittens.

In October 2014, she took Mittens to the vet for a check-up and was surprised to learn that the cat had two genders. Mittens has two sex organs, male and female, CBC News reported.

Clarke-Murphy likes to have another female cat after having a male cat and a female cat. However, according to the veterinarian's advice, Mittens should be operated into a male cat.

The doctor told Clarke-Murphy that the cat just needed to cut the ovaries and castrate them, and then perform sex reconstruction surgery.

The cost of medical bills for Mittens is estimated at $ 1,500. Mittens needs to do this surgery to ensure health because he recently had intestinal problems and difficulty urinating, the consequences of having two genders.

"Mittens has been a member of our family since he was brought home by my daughter , " Clarke-Murphy said.

A friend of Clarke-Murphy is bidding on old goods on Facebook to help his family pay for cat surgery bills.

Bisexual cats are rare. According to Upi, last year, a couple in Liverpool, England, discovered their Twinkle cat has two genders. Twinkle then had surgery and now she is a female cat.
