Turn solar energy into liquid fuel

US scientists have introduced a method of using a bacterium that converts solar energy into liquid fuels.

Scientists at Harvard University use a catalyst to separate sunlight from hydrogen and oxygen. After the "artificial leaves" system generated oxygen and hybrids, they used Ralstonia eutropha to convert and combine carbon dioxide and hydrogen into a liquid fuel called isopropanol .

Isopropanol is mainly used as a solvent and is used in the pharmaceutical industry. It can also be a liquid fuel for vehicles.

"This is evidence that we can harvest solar energy and store it in the form of liquid fuel , " said Science Daily member Pamela Silver, a member of the research team. They hope to increase the conversion efficiency of the system from 1% to 5% in the near future.

Now, scientists now convert solar energy into hydrogen using photovoltaic cells. Energy can be stored in fuel cells (or fuel cells) and serve for future purposes.
