Turn trees into houses

Turning trees into useful objects - sometimes called tree art, tree sculptures, ecological architecture or living art - is not a new idea.

But now, plant engineers and experts in Tel Aviv (Israel) raise their leaf designs to new heights, in a more practical and fun way.

A house built with green trees will have the effect of preventing natural disasters. Eshel and his colleagues discovered a number of plants, grown by air instead of soil and water, with a non-rigid root system. Once this malleable soft root system grows long enough in the laboratory, they will squeeze into metal molds in the form of park benches and bring out where to put them. When eaten on the ground, the roots will become harder and grow thicker. Then, the shoots below the roots begin to grow taller and more luxuriant.

In the near future, Plantware will store the house with eco-friendly technology mentioned above. A Plantware engineer said the first tree house model will be introduced within 10 years while the first tree playground can root the ground early next year.
