Ultra light aircraft: 45 minutes and 6 years'

After the first round of three rounds with a total of 45 minutes, the super-light Vam-1 has suffered a "mosaic" since then. The Vam-2 was not even accepted and was not taken off.

In 2003, after the Government authorized the manufacture of ultra-light aircraft, Vietnam Mechanics Association in collaboration with Mr. Vimar Nguyen, Canadian overseas Vietnamese and a specialist in small aircraft capital investment, embarked on manufacturing.

Only a short time later, the lightweight aircraft called Vam-1 weighs 150kg, the speed of 150km / h; It can fly at 2,500 meters and range up to 500km. Only 200 square meters of hard ground is the aircraft can land with all materials, machinery imported from abroad was officially completed.

After a series of formalities, in December 2005, Vam-1 was officially launched at Long Thanh Airport, Dong Nai Province and piloted by Pham Duy Long. However, after the first flight was about three rounds with this time of only 45 minutes, the Vam-1 has suffered from "mats" since then.

Also during the time Vam-1 waited for a test flight, another super-lightweight aircraft of the same type called Vam-2 continued to be completed. Later in life but not as good luck as the Vam-1 , the Vam-2 was completed but not tested and not take off.

Recalling this incident, Vice-Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thien Tong, who directly involved in manufacturing Vam-2 now is Vice President of Cuu Long University frankly: While the need to use small aircraft in the work medical rescue, search and rescue; marine patrols, tourism, forest protection ... are still very large. But we are missing a legal corridor, especially in allowing the use of aircraft and flying.

Faced with this difficulty, deputy Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thien Tong said that, when it was too daunting to consider the investor to add equipment to Vam-2 can be the surface water, , registration of ships in accordance with the provisions of the ship may be easier.
