Germany built supersonic passenger aircraft

The German space agency is building a new jet that can carry passengers from Europe to Australia in just 90 minutes at a rate of 25 times the sound.

Germany built SpaceLiner passenger aircraft

According to the IBTimes, SpaceLiner is a form of ultra-fast transport using the space rocket technology , to avoid some technical problems that hinder the manufacture of supersonic aircraft.

The pioneers in this area are scientists at DLR Space System Institute, Germany. They are building supersonic jets that are completely environmentally friendly and reusable, which is impossible for today's space rockets. The team believes that the project will be completed and the new generation aircraft can take off in 2045.

How does SpaceLiner work?

SpaceLiner is a two-story vehicle. The first floor contains 9 rocket engines and fuel tanks, which are responsible for accelerating the aircraft. The second floor is a real passenger plane, with a compartment that can hold 50 passengers, two crew members, and two rocket engines and fuel tanks.

To help the plane take off, all 11 missiles will be burned, pushing the plane vertically like a conventional space rocket. About 4 minutes later, the first floor with 9 rocket engines will be separated from the passenger section. The unit will then be picked up by a specially designed aircraft that will be picked up in midair and taken to the launch site, where it descends with its wings.

Meanwhile, the passenger section uses the remaining two rocket engines to accelerate, until it reaches slightly more than Mach 25. After that, the aircraft will descend at speeds of up to 7.3 km / sec and can carry 6 tons of payload to land at the destination.

Although the aircraft launched and dived at very fast speeds, the researchers at DLR said that passengers on SpaceLiner only felt the maximum effect of gravity was 2.5G, much smaller than the impact force. 8G to 9G when we sit on a roller coaster (roller coaster).

The passenger cabin also functions like a rescue chamber. It contains a small size propulsion system, which will activate in an emergency.

SpaceLiner customers

In the process of development, SpaceLiner estimated an investment of about $ 33 billion. It targets first class customers (First class) and Business Class customers. Scientists think that, with the need for super-fast travel, high-end commercial aircraft manufacturers have also seen the future of supersonic aircraft.

"For comparison, Concorde aircraft cost about $ 10 billion, Airbus A380 is about $ 15.4 billion. So we think that in the next 30 years, this will be a bargain price , " said Olga Trivailo, researcher at DLR. , to speak.

"SpaceLiner is not just for transporting passengers. In terms of freight transport, it can be applied to transport transplanted body parts and other short life items."

Although ticket prices were initially expensive, the goal of scientists was to access space more easily by developing SpaceLiner technology. One day, it will allow us to move into the Earth's low-orbit to launch satellites, carrying around 20 tons of load.

Advanced green technology

New technology hopes to make space travel and air travel cheaper and more environmentally friendly. SpaceLiner completely uses liquid oxygen and liquid hydrogen, so it only emits all steam.

Carrying water on airplanes also acts as a cooling system, when airplanes friction with air at supersonic speeds generate high heat. At that time, the water will play a cooling role at the head, the edge of the wing and the tail of the passenger carrying section.

"We are in the technical development phase, but we know that this market is very potential. At this point, others are focusing on hybrid or missile technology, but this is technology. Rockets have existed for a long time , " Trivailo said.

DLR is looking to cooperate with research organizations and other trading partners. A smaller model of passenger transportation will soon be tested. Scientists also consider rotating passenger seats, which can absorb the force exerted by gravity.
