Sharing with Independent, cancer surgeon John Butler from The Royal Marsden Hospital (UK) said ovarian cancer has no specific symptoms. Therefore, the disease is usually diagnosed only when it is too late.
Leads to excessive urination, abdominal pain, flatulence, difficulty in bowel movement or constipation, ovarian cancer is easily confused with gastrointestinal disorders that make patients subjective. A survey from Target Ovarian Cancer found that only 1% of 1,000 female volunteers who knew that urination was a sign of ovarian cancer.
Annwen Jones, CEO of Target Ovarian Cancer, identified ovarian cancer as being underestimated."Treating other types of cancer has made great progress, but ovarian cancer does not. We need to take action to change the lives of ovarian cancer patients , " the director said.
By conducting the survey, Mr. Jones hoped that she would pay more attention to her body to detect abnormalities in time. In the past, experts recommended that women need to see a doctor if they urinate a lot, have abdominal pain or have a full gas for 12 months or longer.
