According to news on Dailymail, recently, a marine biologist suddenly caught a rare but extremely strange shark. It has a strange appearance like fish with ugly water drops or sofas removed.

However, according to research, it is a rare shark living in deep waters off the Scottish coast. This bizarre shark is the catshark shark (cat shark) , also known as Psuedotrakias microdon .

They are carnivores weighing about 60kg and nicknamed 'ocean killer' because of their extreme hunting ability. This is the second time people have caught this fish. Previously, biologists also caught a 1.8m-long sofa shark and weighed 25kg in 2000 from the southwestern coast of the Barra Islands.

This shark species can grow to 3m long and live at a depth of about 1,400m worldwide, including off the coast of Canada, Brazil, Portugal, Iceland, New Zealand, Hawaii and Japan. They have narrow, long eyes and large bodies. Therefore, they are able to swim very slowly along the seabeds and hunt for small fish and invertebrates.

In addition, this fish has a scientific name, microdon - because of the tiny teeth that fill the giant mouth. A survey participant was surprised to catch this rare shark. They said they haven't seen this species in ten years.

They are as soft and smooth as a soft 'sofa' chair, so it's also called a "sofa shark". Researchers have added this shark to the list of 30 species of sharks that exist in Scottish waters. They were never discovered in Scotland before.
