Unique, monkey face orchid flowers in South America

A tourist in South America could not believe his eyes after finding a flower shaped like a monkey's face.

During a visit to Ecuagenera farm specializing in orchid growing in Ecuador, Brian Shandra, a chemist from the American city of Boston, happened to discover that orchid flowers are shaped like monkey faces.

'We were surprised to see these small monkey faces seem to be staring at me. The surprising thing is that each face is different and it seems that they have their own personalities like sad, happy . ' , Brian Shandra, 34, said.

The orchid made Brian Shandra and his team members surprisingly known as the " dracula simia " or the monkey face orchid. They are often found in 2,000-degree tropical forests in Peru and Ecuador.

"Dracula" in the local language means "little dragon" , while "Simia" is reserved for monkey-like plants. This strange orchid was named only in 1978 by botanist Luer.

On cloudy peaks, monkey face orchids can bloom in any season instead of a certain season when planted in lower places. Their flowers smell like orange ripe very attractive.
