Unveiling super heat-resistant fabric with silver fiber
Scientists have just created a new fabric, made from silver nanoparticles, capable of keeping heat efficiently inside clothes, helping the wearer feel warm.
Popular Science magazine reported, experts from Stanford University (USA) decided to use silver to produce new materials, because it reflected infrared radiation back to the body.

To make the metal material comfortable to wear, the team dipped the silver into a silver solution. The nanofibers can therefore cling to the top of the fabric for everyday clothes.
By doing so, American scientists have created a fabric that can hold 80% of body heat, according to research reports published in Nano Letters.
This material is considered to retain heat as effectively as wool. If used to make clothes, it will help reflect the amount of infrared radiation emitted by the wearer back to his or her own body. In addition, nano-silver clothing can be connected via a computer outlet to keep people warm.
The idea of the invention team is that a small amount of electricity can turn a silver nanofiber jacket into an electric blanket. Exploiting the movement of electricity through fabric fibers can produce additional heat to warm the wearer's body.

Another advantage of the new fabric is that it is relatively thin, light and airy. So researchers hope it will someday be used to replace the large range of outdoor ski jackets. If used indoors, nano-silver garments will help the wearer no longer need to heat.
Although it is easy to imagine that fabric made of silver can be very expensive, but the patent group insists, the total cost of silver needed to create a complete garment is only 1 USD. Wearing apparel from this new material can help a person save up to $ 200 in heating costs per year or save enough energy to light 1,000 electric light bulbs in 10 hours.
Super-silver nanoparticles are still not available for sale due to further testing. However, the patent team has also promoted research to develop another cloth coating to help clothes and people wear cool in hot weather.
