The study of Dr. Pham Thi Minh Phuong, Department of Agricultural Sciences of Vietnam Agricultural Institute, and her colleagues chose to create lily orchids by a hybrid method between indigenous and imported genetic resources.

The objective of this study is to create new hybrid orchid combinations with different colors or shapes , creating momentum for domestic production. In farming conditions in Gia Lam, Hanoi, hybrids are capable of good growth, expressed in steadily increasing height, large number of leaves on tubers, large size of tubers.

According to the website of the Vietnam Academy of Agriculture, the hybrid results show beautiful flowers, new shapes such as triangles, semi-dual wings of 8-9 wings per flower, petals arranged in balance, average height suitable for potted flower production in Vietnam.Colorful flowers, many colors from red, pink, orange red, white with pink border, there are hybrid flowers with a cool fragrance.

Lan Hue (commonly known as lilies) is grown quite popular and distinguishes mainly on flower colors . The imported flower varieties have many outstanding points such as flowers with many shapes (single wings, semi-dual or double wings), diverse flower sizes, rich flower colors (yellow, orange, red salmon, crimson, or many colors on the petals). The native flower varieties are diverse in quantity but still have limitations in shape and color, failing to meet market requirements.
