Use stem cells to treat eye damage
British scientists have successfully used stem cell therapy to heal people with severe vision damage, even completely returning to their original state.
The experimental program was conducted for patients named Russell Turnbull.
Turnbull's right eye almost lost its effect after being sprayed with ammonia.
Specifically, the scientists took healthy stem cells from Turnbull's left eye, and inserted them into the amniotic membrane (this amniotic sac is a donated woman) for the culture.
After the cell completely covered the amniotic membrane, scientists had to cut a postage-sized structure to transplant into Russell Turnbull's right eye.
The results showed that after two months, the function of the right eye was restored and the cornea was damaged.
