Using Hoffman kiln technology to overcome pollution

After one year of installing Hoffman kiln - continuous rice husk furnace type according to German technology, Kim Thach Limited Liability Company in Tan Duong industrial cluster, Lai Vung district, Dong Thap has overcome environmental pollution. and reduce investment costs.

Kim Thach Company was established in 2006, mainly producing export ceramic and porcelain tiles. Currently the company has 12 kilns for pottery-brick production.

Last year, the company invested over 1 billion VND to install Hoffman kiln to improve product quality, overcome dust pollution in baked ceramic and ceramic production.

Mr. Le Hoang Long - Deputy Director of the company said that according to Hoffman kiln technology model, the furnace is built with card bricks consisting of two ranges, each of 10 combustion chambers, operating under the technology of continuous combustion chamber with merit capacity of 20,000 tablets / day and night.

The application process has shown many advantages, more economical than traditional kilns such as rice husk kilns that continuously consume less than 0.35 kg of rice husk / kg of finished bricks, the percentage of broken bricks below 0 , 5%.

Meanwhile, manual kilns consume 0.5 kg of rice husk / kg of finished bricks. Therefore, new type brick kilns save 30% of fuel compared to manual kilns.

Features of Hoffman kilns have up to 18 product compartments, 20 entry and exit doors are in two ranges with coordinating valves. The furnace workers can regulate the flames of combustion through the chambers to be baked, or control the flow of fire to the compartments that are entering and leaving the product at will.

On the top of the kiln, there are many small niches, workers can observe the degree of fire separation in the burning chambers and, when necessary, adjust the additional firing mouths at these small niches to enhance the course. material for chambers with weak fire.

The multi-compartment arrangement makes the flow of fuel in the oven proactive, easy to circulate and regulate fire or heat the product at the required quality compartments.

The kiln firing time of the kiln improved only 24 hours, while for manual kilns, the firing time was prolonged, each batch fired for 15 to 20 days; Particularly, the process of waiting for the bricks to cool and moving the finished tiles out of the kiln takes 1 week. Due to the long burning time of the furnace, when starting a new batch, the oven must be heated again from the beginning, so do not take advantage of the heat in the furnace.

In addition to overcoming the environmental pollution of dust and smoke, one of the reasons for Kim Thach Company to actively invest in construction of Hoffman kiln is to meet the demand for product quality and create a healthy environment for forces. Workers and workers' incomes are raised.

From the application of high-efficiency heat transfer technology of Hoffman kilns, the company is applying this technology to test production on improved lime kiln systems. The initial results showed that the application of combustion at this furnace mouth, transferring heat to burning the other kiln is very positive with the level of minimizing outside smoke of 50%.

Currently, Kim Thach Company is continuing to research to be able to transfer technology to brick and tile production facilities in the province.
