China unearthed dragon-shaped kilns over 1200 years

A group of Chinese archaeologists on December 9 unearthed a 1,200-year-old dragon-shaped ceramic kiln in the village of Nanyao, Jingdezhen in China's Jiangxi Province.

This area once once was the center of China's ceramic industry.

Mr. Xu Changqing, Director of the Institute of Archeology and Cultural Monuments in Jiangxi Province, confirmed that the kiln from the Tang Dynasty (618-907) was 78.8 meters long and the longest kiln ever discovered. .

The dragon kiln is a long sloping chamber with a furnace at one end, and the other end is a chimney. Tens of tons of ceramic tools and fragments are also found in the ruins of Nanyao village, covering an area of ​​about 1,000 square meters.

This ruined ruins were first discovered in 1964, but were not excavated because of the poor conditions of preserving the ruins that were excavated at that time.

In recent years, to shed light on when the Jingdezhen region started burning pottery, Jiangxi Province decided to unearth the Nanyao relic.
