Vacuum lamps emit ultraviolet rays that are effective

Japanese scientists have created ultraviolet light vacuum tubes in the shortwave range of 140 to 220 nanomics.

These are very useful for industrial use: from disinfecting medical devices to cleaning semiconductors. When impacted, high energy of light knocks out oxygen-containing molecules on the surface, producing highly active oxygen radicals that completely destroy any species of bacteria that attach to the surface.

Ultraviolet vacuum lamps available on the market are very bulky and expensive. They consume a lot of energy, emit a lot of heat, have short lifetimes and contain toxic gases that pollute the environment and cause harm to human health.

New lamps by Japanese scientists overcome all these disadvantages thanks to simple manufacturing technology, no need for toxic gas and rare earth elements. This is a promising source of light in terms of lamp life, size, thermal conductivity and stability.
