Verizon Wireless develops new technologies for wireless platforms
Verizon Wireless, a joint venture between Verizon Communications Inc. and Vodafone Group Plc on July 27 said they are developing new technologies for next-generation wireless Internet services.
Verizon Wireless has reached an agreement with five telecom technology providers to implement the project. Under the plan, Verizon Wireless will research and develop wireless Internet services - new generation Wi-Fi and WiMax to strengthen the platform.
Technology providers for Verizon Wireless include: Cisco Systems, Lucent Technologies, Nortel, Motorola, and Qualcomm. These corporations will be jointly responsible for solving problems related to future services, such as Internet telephony.
