Video: Cloud like a catheter to heaven in Japan

A long tube-shaped cloud stood out in the gray sky in Japan, drawing much attention.

The pale tube cloud was recorded yesterday in Niigata city in the center of Chubu province, Japan, stretching to the ground from the cloudy sky. The large size of the cloud in the video can be the result of visual illusion, according to Long Room.

The local people saw the pipe cloud all amazed at the phenomenon. A person sent footage to Weathernews weather forecast service company. When the company shared videos, the scene attracted 91,000 likes and more than 60,000 shares on Twitter in just two days.

In the video, the cloud tube begins to fade away from the ground to the top, seemingly washed away. Within a few seconds, all the dissipated pipes to the root were connected to the gray mother cloud at hundreds of meters high.

According to meteorologists, this is an example of a funnel-shaped cloud. This type of cloud is often the starting condition for tornadoes to form. If the cloud hits the ground or water surface, it will become a tornado or a water cannon. The funnel-shaped cloud was born when a swirling wind whirled around the water column by many drops.
