Video: Encountering wild snakes stealing eggs, mother chickens surgery to stop
A woman in Queensland, Australia, recorded a battle between a mother hen and a one-meter-long wild snake sneaking into gobbling up eggs at midnight.
According to 9news.com.au, Chook Chook hens woke up in the middle of the night and found a wild snake grabbing one of its 6 eggs on a potted plant in Townsville, Queensland. The video recorded the battle between two animals recorded by Sandy Rewald and shared on Facebook on July 3.
The hen put his head in the potted plant and repeatedly pecked on the snake, making it fearful to flee.
Rewald and his son Fletcher saw the snake as he passed the potted plant. " I know I am losing the eggs. They are about to hatch, " Rewald said.
Awakened by the light from the camera, Chook Chook quickly appeared. It dropped its head into the potted plant and repeatedly pecked at the snake, causing it to scare away. Although the mother chicks successfully chase the snake, some eggs are still broken.
