Rats are a plague in Australia. Farmers here are always struggling to find ways to destroy creatures that reproduce at a dizzying rate as well as their terrifying ability to destroy crops. Many farm owners even have to "worry" for fear of bankruptcy!
They were forced to burn all the hay and grain contaminated by the rats. Not only did the damage to agricultural products cause economic losses, but the rats also carried pathogens that affected human health.
Despite a $50 million government aid package, the rat problem continues unabated. Farmers have resorted to using rat poison to kill rats on their farms, or using giant traps that can catch thousands of rats in a night, as seen in the video below.
