According to Mother Nature Network, the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) discovered a new glowing jellyfish through a remote-controlled diving device Deep Discoverer. NOAA is conducting a survey of the deepest ocean trench area in the world, Mariana in the Pacific, expected to last from April 20 to July 10.
Deep Discoverer recorded the jellyfish at a depth of 3,700m on April 24. The jellyfish is named by the NOAA marine biologists as a jellyfish due to its appearance of an alien creature. The jellyfish has tentacles spread out to ambush the prey. The yellow and red glowing areas inside the jellyfish body are more likely to be gonads and digestive systems.
