Seeker on July 12 reported that the koala was called Bowie after the name of a famous male singer. The marsupial was brought into the Australian Zoo Wildlife Hospital north of Brisbane after being hit by a car.
The extremely rare syndrome that koala children suffer is called heterochromia , because the recessive gene inherited from parents affects the pigmentation of the iris of the young.
