Video of thousands of crocodiles basking on the riverbank attracts more than 10 million views
The creature photographed is a black caiman crocodile.
However, upon investigation, the video was not recorded at a resort beach, nor was it an invasion from aggressive crocodiles.
In fact, the creature photographed is the black caiman crocodile – a small and medium sized reptile, related to the common crocodile. The image was also shot on the bank of a river in the Pantanal - the largest tropical wetland in the world. The phenomenon of caiman crocodiles lying on the banks of the Nabileque River is just one of the images often seen in this wetland.
