Video: Testing compressed air cannon to bring salmon to breeding ground

Scientists are making compressed air cannons to bring salmon back to breeding grounds upstream of rivers, where dams hinder their migration.

The type of pneumatic cannon is capable of sending salmon over high dams at 35km / h. The device is made of soft fabric, which helps the fish not to be injured during the tube crossing process.

Developers hope each device is capable of putting 40 fish across dams in a minute. Currently, this device is being tested in the Kalama waterfall system on the Columbia River and Roza Dam in Washington State, USA.
