Vietnam has for the first time a reference laboratory for antibiotics
This laboratory was built with a budget of VND 60 billion, supported by the Fleming Fund and supported by the University of Oxford, UK Clinical Research Unit.
The laboratory is located at the Central Hospital of Tropical Diseases , the first facility in Vietnam to be tasked with collecting and analyzing new data and cases of resistance.
Identity testing at the new Laboratory.
Once in operation, this laboratory will be able to identify the phenotype and genotype associated with antibiotic resistant strains isolated from hospitals; coordinating identification examinations and antimicrobial activity in hospitals; develop methods to diagnose pathogenicity, antibiotic resistance by molecular biology techniques and gene sequencing in some special cases.
These data will be updated regularly to coordinate antibiotic resistance activities in Vietnam.
Vietnam is one of the countries with a high level of antibiotic resistance, due to the sale of non-prescription antibiotics everywhere and many types of food with antibiotic residues.
However, until now, Vietnam has not had any research on the status of antibiotic resistance, in addition to research done at the Hospital of Tropical Diseases nearly 10 years ago, under professional support. of Oxford University.
