Vietnam is about to see a total eclipse

The moon is completely obscured and turned into amniotic red which will appear in the sky of Vietnam this Saturday night, and is the most remarkable astronomical phenomenon of the year.

Vietnam and some countries in Asia and Oceania will be able to fully appreciate the phenomenon. In North America, Europe, and South Asia, Africa only observes short phases of eclipses.

Dang Tuan Duy, chairman of the HCMC amateur astronomical club, said that at the time of the lunar eclipse, the darkness of the earth would completely cover the moon in 51 minutes, the usual yellow of the moon Replace with black or red red depending on weather conditions. This phenomenon is also called "Blood Moon".

In Vietnam, Duy said, the lunar eclipse will start from 18h33 on December 10 when the moon enters the half-dark shadow of the earth, but the half-moon eclipse will be very difficult to recognize because the moon is only slightly yellow. than normal.

"The moment we should start observing is that at 7:45 pm, the moon will begin to enter the shadow area of the earth starting the partial eclipse, the color of the earth shadow area printed on the moon will gradually change from black. gray to red when this shadow area grows , " Duy said.

Duy added: "The full moon will begin at 21:06, now the whole moon will turn red. The full moon eclipse reaches its maximum at 21h33 also when the moon is darkest red."

After that, the observer can continue to admire the phenomenon of total eclipse until 21h57. After that the moon will gradually get out of the dark, the rest will have a yellow color gradually. The moon came out of the darkness completely and ended a partial eclipse near midnight.

Before that, the lunar eclipse took place on June 16 - one of the long lunar eclipses of the 21st century, but Vietnam had no conditions to observe. This time of the lunar eclipse, though only lasting 51 minutes, was convenient for observation because it took place before midnight.

"After this time, it will take another three years for the total eclipse phenomenon to return , " Duy said.

When observing the lunar eclipse, we can completely observe with the naked eye without eye protection. Unlike solar eclipses, eclipses do not affect human health.

"With the current good weather conditions, we believe that the upcoming lunar eclipse is indeed the most remarkable phenomenon of the year , " Son said.

True moon is a phenomenon that occurs when the moon is in a straight position with the earth and the sun should be obscured by the shadow of the earth. Unlike eclipses, the lunar eclipse lasts longer because the earth's shadow is quite large compared to the moon.

When the moon enters the shadow area we have a partial eclipse. When the moon passes and lies completely in the shadow area we have a total eclipse, this is the case we will observe on Saturday morning.

Also this month, the Geminids meteor shower will take place and is one of the biggest meteor showers of the year, but this phenomenon happens so close to the full moon day, the moonlight will make it very difficult to observe.
