Millions of people in the Asia-Pacific region, including Vietnam, today enjoy the unique opportunity to admire the total and partial solar eclipse this year.

Experts recommend observers to use sunlight filter in front of a telescope or camera, or use a special type of glass to observe eclipse.Observers should avoid looking directly at the Sun.

People in Indonesia and the Central Pacific can observe the total solar eclipse.Meanwhile, some parts of Australia, Southeast Asia, southern China, Hawaii and Alaska only see partial eclipse.

Scientists from the US Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) plan to study solar physics through eclipses.In Indonesia, they used a compartment camera to capture 59 Sun images in three minutes to collect data on the superheated atmospheres close to the Sun's surface.This area can only be observed in the total solar eclipse when the sun's part is completely obscured by the Moon.

According to NASA, the Sun's coronary rim can provide suggestions for some unexplained mysteries such as coronal eruptions or why the corona ring is hotter than the surface.
