Vietnamese tea flowers are recognized by the world as new species

A type of Vietnamese Camellia has just been officially published in the Nordic Journal of Botany (Swedish botanical magazine), the world's first newly discovered plant and named Camellia longii.

During the field survey of Cat Tien - Cat Loc forest area (belonging to Cat Tien National Park), which is affected by Dong Nai 6 and Dong Nai 6A hydropower projects, the research team (PV Tuoi Tre comes with ), led by Dr. Vu Ngoc Long - director of Southern Institute of Ecology - found a plant that is camellia very strange compared to the existing knowledge. Dr. Long said that this is a new species, need to be published and included in the list of strict protection.

Dr. Luu Hong Truong, deputy director of the Southern Institute of Ecology, then sent documents and images to the international community and carried out all procedures to recognize that this is a newly discovered tea flower.
