Wadi al-Hitan Museum was built in the valley of the Wadi al-Hitan desert.

Egypt announced it would build the first fossil museum in the valley in the Wadi al-Hitan desert, called the Wadi al-Hitan Museum , 150 km southwest of Cairo.

According to Maurizio Massari, Italian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Italy will invest 2 billion euros for the construction of Wadi al-Hitan Museum in the Middle East region.

The museum will focus on displaying whale fossils.

The largest fossil Basilosaurus isis fossils are on display at the Fayoum Oasis Oasis, Egypt, on January 14, 2016 with the theme "Climate Change".

At the center of the museum will be a 20-million-year-old 37-million-year-old whale skeleton called "terrestrial whales" - a testament to how modern whales evolved from mammals.

How can whale fossils be in the middle of this hottest desert? That's because Wadi al-Hitan valley was submerged in water about 40 to 50 million years ago by the Tethys Sea, south of the present Mediterranean.

Wadi Al-Hitan Museum is also known as "Whale Valley".

The fossils of the Wadi Al-Hitan museum date back to 50 million years. Authorities arrange fossils according to the body of the modern whale, but still retain the skull, teeth and legs structure, following former terrestrial mammals. Many of the whale skeletons are in good condition because they are well preserved in rock layers.

Semi-complete skeletons are found in the valleys of the Wadi Al-Hitan desert and in some cases even the stomach remains preserved.
