According to the Telegraph , impressive photographs show that the giant spider with black legs is covering the body of a dead bird in its net. These images were taken in Atheron, near the northern region of Queensland's tropical climate.

Joel Shakespeare, the spider man in the Australian Reptile Park, said the spider the main character in the above photos belongs to the Golden Orb Weaver. The ninemsn.com page quoted this expert as saying: " Normally, the spiders Golden Orb Weaver often hunts are big insects . It's strange to see such a spider eat a bird ".

Mr. Shakepeare said he had seen spiders Golden Orb Weaver as big as a human hand. However, spiders in tropical regions are thought to grow larger in size.

A representative of the Queensland Museum identified the bird being eaten by a spider as a native finch named Mannikin, chestnut chestnut. Mr. Shakespeare remarked, the bird was definitely caught in the spider's net and was trapped there.

" The spider will not eat the whole bird. It uses venom to slice the bird meat into small pieces to eat and what it leaves is part of the food, " Shakespeare added.
