Ways to name dinosaurs
The names of the dinosaurs are set like the Little Heart type, the giant Andre or William Perry " refrigerator ". However, these names are not always commensurate with them.
In the name Pachycephalosaurus, " Pachy " comes from the Greek meaning thick; ' cephale ' means first, while 'saurus' means lizard. All those words come together and you'll have a lizard with a firm head (although today, scientists never put dinosaurs in the group of lizards anymore).
The name of the dinosaur can be a mixture of Greek and Latin words, describing their external characteristics, such as our friend with a big head. Or they could be named after the scientists who found the ancient fossil of this reptile. For example, Albertosaurus is found in Alberta, Canada.
Some dinosaurs were named after the person who found their bones, such as Diplodocus carnegii derived from the name of Andrew Carnegie, who sponsored the expedition to discover this huge dinosaur.
New objects found today are often named in the same way.
