70 million years old dinosaurs

With two giant arms, newly excavated dinosaurs in Mongolia are a scary prehistoric animal.

In 1965, scientists found two giant arms of a dinosaur in Mongolia. Recently, its full skeleton excavated shows that it is one of the most exotic dinosaurs ever. It lives in the area now known as the Gobi desert, about 70 million years ago.

Natureworldnews said this dinosaur is 5 to 11 meters tall, weighs about 7 tons. It had a platypus head, a hump like a sail on its back, patchy hair and no teeth.

The name of the dinosaur is Deinocheirus mirificus , meaning "terrible arm" . With its claws nearly 2.5 meters long, the Deinocheirus used to be the longest-armed bipedal animal of the time.

"Deinocheirus is one of the most exotic dinosaurs, beyond our imagination , " said Dr. Yuong Nam Lee, the lead researcher from the Korea Institute of Geosciences and Minerals (Kigam).

Although linked to Tyrannosaurus rex, the deinocheirus belongs to a group of theropod dinosaurs called ornithomimosaurs (ostrich dinosaurs) . This is an omnivore, eating both fish and plants.

The results of the study are published in the journal Nature.
