The bug has attacked ... the tyrant dinosaurs?
Researchers from the University of Sheffield (UK) revealed that the bug has evolved more than 100 million years ago, 50 million years earlier than previously thought.
They are harmful insects that we all hate and now a new study shows that aphids have been a 'terrorist' species dating back millions of years.
Aphids have appeared very early on Earth and evolved to this day.
In the study, the team compared DNA from dozens of aphid species. Professor Mike Siva-Jothy, an author of the study, said: 'It is possible that the pests that live in our beds today have evolved over 100 million years ago and live with dinosaurs.'
DNA analysis shows that bed bugs are much older than bats. Previous studies have assumed that the first parasitic beetle appeared.
While this means that bed bugs appear at the same time as dinosaurs, the researchers stressed that more research is needed to understand whether bed bugs actually suck the blood of dinosaurs like tyrants. .
Professor Siva-Jothy added: "These findings will help us better understand how bed bugs develop characteristics that make them effective pests. That will also help us find ways. New to control them at the present '.
