T-rex tyrant dinosaurs also know 'love' - the shocking study of scientists

T-rex tyrant dinosaurs are one of the most violent creatures. But it seems that their love life is also sensitive.

Now there are only harmless fossil bones, but 65 million years ago was T-rex's heyday - tyrant dinosaur.

With a violent appearance - up to 6 meters long, 20 meters long, weighs tens of tons and sharp teeth, T-rex is considered one of the most feared cold-blooded assassins in Earth's history.

But according to a new study, contrary to aggression, T-rex has an extremely sensitive nose, with a level of perception equivalent to 10 human fingertips. They use this nose to spy, build nests, transport fragile eggs, and welcome their babies to be born.

And the experts even came up with a more shocking conclusion about the love story of this animal. Accordingly, T-rex male and female like . rubbing their noses at each other when doing "that", seeming to feel love.

"When flirting, tyrannical dinosaurs can rub sensitive nose into each other, just like how people play," said experts from Carthage University (Wisconsin, USA).

More specifically, this is a study done after experts found a new species in the genus of the tyrant dinosaur - Daspletosaurus horneri. This species lived before T-rex, about 74 million years ago, but its size is only about three-quarters.
Traces from the fossils of the skull and fossils of the D.horneri have brought much important information. In particular, the expert team found that the nose and jaw area have a lot of small nerve holes, indicating that there are hundreds of "trigeminal nerves" gathered here.

It is known that trigeminal nerve is a special receptor of animals. It takes responsibility for transferring sensory signals to the brain.

In fact, the current reptiles - like crocodiles - also have similar structures, with thousands of receptors surrounding their noses and jaws.

" Based on the fact that these receptors are almost identical in the genus of tyrant dinosaurs, I believe they have an extremely sensitive skin, " said Dr. Thomas Carr, research director from Carthage University.

In other words, T-rex's area around the jaw and nose is like their "third arm".

Professor Jayc Sedlmayr from Louisiana State University shared: "This finding is really interesting, because it shows that the trigeminal nerve system has a great evolutionary history ."

The study is published in Scientific Reports.
