What is super moon? When will Vietnam receive Super Moon?

In addition to the Super Moon phenomenon - the Moon looks bigger and brighter than usual, there are many other special phenomena that make Moon's size, brightness or color change.

Considered to be the only natural satellite of the Earth, the Moon moves around the Earth in an oval orbit. When the Moon moves to the location with the closest distance to the Earth (near-point), the Moon's size when viewed from Earth will be larger.

The Moon is 30% brighter at the time of the Super Moon.

In particular, when the Sun, Earth and Moon align in time with the Moon at the near-point, the Moon will be bright and much larger when viewed from Earth, which is called the Super Moon phenomenon. or Super Moon (Supermoon) . Compared to the size of the Moon at the farthest distance from Earth in orbit (telecom point), the Moon is 30% brighter and 14% larger in size when viewed from Earth at the time of its occurrence. Super moon phenomenon.

The time of the Super Moon phenomenon

. It is expected that you will have two very close opportunities to watch the super moon on the full moon, which is January 2 and January 31, 2018.

Other special phenomena of the Moon

Besides the Super Moon phenomenon, there are other special times where the size, brightness or color of the Moon when viewed from Earth are different from normal days.

Full moon (Full Moon)

A phenomenon occurs when the Earth is between the Moon and the Sun. At this point, the entire illuminated part of the Moon is clearly visible from the Earth and also when the Moon looks "roundest".

A full moon phenomenon occurs in the middle of autumn, at the time of harvest. At this time, the moon is usually brighter than the usual full moon.

New Moon (New Moon)

A phenomenon occurs when the Moon lies between the Earth and the Sun. At this point, the illuminated part of the Moon cannot be seen from the Earth.

Eclipse.(Illustration).

It is a special case of the new moon. The fact that the Moon is between the Earth and the Sun on the day of the new moon does not mean that both the Earth, the Moon and the Sun are on the same line. The case of the Moon obscuring the Sun when all 3 are on the straight line creates a phenomenon of eclipse.

As a phenomenon occurs when the Earth, the Moon, the Sun is in line and the Moon is in the dark region of the Earth, it is not possible to receive light from the Sun.

Black Moon (Black Moon)

Is another special case of the new moon. When the illuminated Moon part fell into the Earth's shadow, the Moon disappeared completely in the sky, unable to be observed while the night did not show any light. However, a few days after the occurrence of this phenomenon, a crescent-shaped piece of silver moon will gradually appear in the sky. Most experts believe that the appearance of the second new moon in the same month creates a phenomenon of black moon. The nearest black moon occurred in October 2016 and the next time is expected to take place in 2019.

It is a special case of a full moon. Most experts believe that the appearance of the second full moon in the same month creates a blue moon phenomenon. This is the opposite phenomenon of the phenomenon of black moon. In essence, the blue moon phenomenon implies this phenomenon is very rare and does not mean that the Moon is green.

The phenomenon of Super Moon occurs at the time of eclipse. At this point, the Moon enters the dark areas of the Earth and is obscured. However, light reflected from the Moon's surface is refracted when it passes through the Earth's atmosphere before the time of the total eclipse, causing the Moon to glow red like blood.
