Why don't you learn how to swim forever?

Swimming is an essential skill everyone should learn. Understanding the importance of swimming lessons, many people participated in swimming classes or asked relatives to help them but still could not swim. So, learning how to swim is right and fastest.

The reason you study forever and still can't swim

A person is considered to be able to swim when he is able to swim 25 meters and exists in the water (where the head is overflowed) for 5 minutes. However, according to Dr. Pham Anh Tuan, Director of E-Swimming Center (Hanoi), this regulation does not make much sense in preventing drowning. "So what if you can't swim anymore in the 26th meter, or in the 6th minute you can't exist in the country, what happens? To prevent drowning, it's not about how far you can swim. how much, how long is it important that when you fall into the water you have the ability to cope with floating, self-rescue swimming - a way to swim vertically, with little effort to not drown, " said Dr. Tuan said.

According to Tuan, to be able to swim - fight drowning is not difficult. If you have been practicing swimming for a long time or have long been determined to learn how to swim, but have not been able to swim, it could be for one or more of the following reasons:

You are not focused, not 'committed' to swimming

You want to know how to swim but don't set a specific plan and take the time to prioritize swimming lessons. You learn by inspiration, when you like, go, no, then leave. You go to school for a few sessions then take a week off, the whole month, until you continue to study, it is considered starting again. If this keeps repeating, it's not hard to understand when you say "I've been learning how to swim for a long time and can't swim yet".

You have not completed '1st grade' and want to study '4th, 5th grade'

In learning to swim, breathing is the most important skill. Want to swim must know how to breathe. Breathing when swimming is different from breathing when walking normally on the ground so before learning to fan, pedal, we must learn to breathe well. Breathing is known to swim 70%. When you do not know how to breathe but have learned to fan your legs, hand fans are easy to distract, making this one forget the other. There are many people who boast that they can swim 6-10m, only one error is that they cannot breathe yet.

After learning to breathe, people should learn to dive - up and down vertically to heal ' deep water fear', 'fear of feet leaving the ground'. Only when diving well, people learn well and finally learn how to move in different types of swimming such as dog sinking, self-rescue, frog, slithering . New learners often focus on hand fans, kick your feet and skip practicing breathing. Consequently, there are people who can "swim" a little bit or choke, but still do not dare to go out to the deep water .

Do not understand the 'true 4' nature of swimming movements

Older adults are more difficult to learn to swim than children because the current way of teaching 'imitation ' makes it difficult for them to do exactly what the teacher wants. If you want to swim, you need to do 4 things right:

  1. Right way: The movement must be done in the right direction. For example, when swimming frogs, the legs have to bend and then pedal along the arc to the sides before squeezing together . Just like when going from Hanoi to Bac Giang, Quang Ninh, it must be north, if If you go south, you will get lost to another province.
  2. Timely: This is the coordination of the limbs so that the rhythm is smooth, when the hand is, when the leg is, at the same time or staggered . Swimming is a rhythmic activity, an underwater dance rather than an activity. dynamic disturbance.
  3. Correct strength : When arms, legs need to be strong, when hands and feet need light. In swimming motion, the body is not always stiff but sometimes active (erect), resting (need), or vice versa; sometimes these parts are on the water, the other parts are under the water .
  4. Right point of force: The same is to use the hand to create force, but if you slap your hand on the table, the force will flow down to the table, burning the hand, but if you press down on the table, the force will be transmitted to the shoulder. In swimming, too, the destination of different forces creates different direction of movement. Because we do not know the destination of the force, many people struggle with their arms and legs and lose their energy but cannot swim very far.

Just missing one of the 'correct' 4s , you will spend more time learning to swim, even if you still can't master your movements underwater.

Do not know 'try - wrong'

There are many people who try to practice one hand to beat their fists , even though they are not effective, they keep repeating that movement diligently. In fact, when you feel like you fall into this situation, stop, look at the good swimmers, find out how their movements are different from yours to edit. Ask the question "Why do their hands and feet move smoothly, fast but still swim fast, swim well . ". You must always change, always 'try - wrong ' to reach ' 4 right '. Just like that, you can learn to swim fast and swim properly. Need to observe to change.

Tam is afraid of not wanting to go to the water for fear of underwater risks

Many people, especially women, are afraid to go swimming because they fear it will affect their skin or make them suffer from some diseases caused by the underwater environment. In fact, swimming may face a number of risk groups such as drowning, loss of body temperature due to prolonged immersion, lung disease caused by inhaling a lot of water into the lungs, exposure to active ingredients used to treat pool water, resulting in diseases of the ear, nose, throat, skin, musculoskeletal problems caused by over-swimming. In addition, when swimming in rivers and oceans, you can fall, slide, and collide with the walls of ships and boats, being in danger due to adverse weather such as thunderstorms and storms, falling into swirling currents, meeting strange creatures such as jellyfish, ferocious fish .

However, usually, if swimming in a swimming pool in the city, these risks are not much. Especially, you can prevent it by: Practice swimming with the instructor or practice on the land before getting into the water; practice in a place where the water is not too deep; not swimming too much; use earmuffs, swimming goggles . to avoid water in the ears and eyes; pay close attention to and choose the appropriate swimming place; don't swim when the weather is unfavorable .

You have a disease of water fear due to psychological trauma

Some people have experienced accidents due to contact with water, or have witnessed drowning, watching the horror of underwater in the film . can feel fear, panic while in a water environment. In severe cases, they need treatment to relieve psychological problems before going to school. For milder cases, the practice of terrestrial swimming, combined with getting used to the water . may work well.

With these cases, abstaining from learning how to swim like, rushing into the water or being pushed into the water, rushed into the water before starting.

Start with a swim too hard

Most swimming schools in Vietnam teach newcomers to a difficult swimming course: breaststroke or slithering. This is no different from " not learning, learning cows that have learned to run" , making many people easily discouraged and give up.

So start learning to swim with snorkeling, diving and floating, then learn simple swimming techniques such as a swimmer's dog swim in the water and swim self-rescue - a kind of vertical survival swimming. These two types of swimming simulate human instincts, are supported by the buoyancy of the water so it is easy to learn within 2-4 sessions. Once you have mastered the above swimming styles, you will be excited to practice more difficult techniques such as breaststroke, crawl, butterfly .

Note:

Before getting down to the pool, basic steps are needed to soften muscles, joints, or walk around the pool to warm up the body.

To improve the situation, do the following

Start practicing swimming with a static state : Learn to breathe (on the water, open your mouth and breathe in, under the surface of the breathing water bubbles out of your nose); learn to float and feel balance; learn to dive and breathe in a squatting body, bundle pillows under the water (jump straight up and breathe in and sit down and breathe out) to feel the thrust of the water. When you can float in silence for 10-15 seconds, you can jump up and down continuously for fifty times without disturbing that you are about to succeed.

Learning to coordinate limbs to create effective force . Remember to swim is dancing in the country, is a rhythmic activity, is an alternation of static and dynamic, of outline and need, of fast and slow. When you feel you are gradually mastering the rhythm of movement, you are about to succeed.

You should start with learning to save your self-help swim easily, easily reach your head out of the water and breathe in thanks to the support of the water's thrust. If you learn to swim breaststroke and crawl, your breathing will be much harder.
