Monkey learns to swim like people

Although it is impossible to match Michael Phelps, the monkey has shown that they can still swim like humans.

Most of the animals on the ground swim instinctively using wading tributaries. In the last two cases, an ape and orangutan chimpanzee have demonstrated the ability to swim like a human, specifically a breaststroke.

This is an interesting finding, because for a long time chimpanzees or large gibbons are not known to be able to swim, and there have been cases where they drowned because they fell into the lake in the zoo.

However, in these two cases, the animals were raised and cared for in the United States.

In the first case, the ape named Cooper displayed the ability to swim in the pool in Missouri. It not only swims but also dives excitedly to the bottom of the lake to pick up things.

And the orangutan, named Suryia, was filmed in a private zoo in South Carolina as it swam for more than 12 meters with the same movements of a frog, according to a report in the American Journal of Physical Anthropology .

'This is a very surprising behavior in an animal that is said to be very afraid of water,' said researcher Renato Bender of the University of Witwatersrand (South Africa).

While the ability to 'swim dog' is an instinctive act, breaststroke according to the type of person who needs to learn to do it.
