The round worms enter the snail intestines when they eat the rotten and resident plants in them until they are discharged in a new location.

Worms live on gut snails

According to National Geographic, Arion slugs are a kind of Palearctic soil. Most species of this genus originate from the Iberian Peninsula in southwestern Europe. While eating rotten plants, Arion slugs accidentally swallow some worms and worms, including the roundworm Caenorhabditis elegans (C.Elegans).

This is a small round worm or used as a laboratory creature. This one-millimeter worm is not digested but in the intestinal intestine until it is released. In this way, they can go away from their original place, find new sources of food.

"This is a big surprise for us, because we never thought C. Elegans could live in another creature," Hinrich Schulenburg, head of research, zoologist at Kiel school, Germany, said.

"Somehow, C. Elegans can protect them from digestion." The study was published in BMC Ecoloy magazine on July 12.

In the 1960s, scientists discovered C. Elegans was the perfect laboratory study because they were small, short-lived. Since then, they have been decoding the genes of C. Elegans and have more information about this species than most other organisms on Earth. Research on this species can be the foundation for other species and humans.
