Ancient people eat dogs to turn into

Archaeologists discovered traces 4,000 years ago, showing that the Srubnaya people in Russia used to sacrifice offerings of dog and wolf meat.

The Srubnaya used to perform rituals and eat dog meat, possibly to absorb the power and turn into werewolves, reported Inquisitr on November 20. Scientists, including David Anthony and Dorcas Brown, came to this conclusion after years of studying traces in Russia.

The team discovered at least 64 dog family species, mainly dogs and some species of wolves, worshiped in the Srubnaya people living in Krasnosamarskoe, near the Ural Mountains. The traces dating back to 4,000 years show that they used to perform a sacrifice ritual and eat dog meat. Archaeologists also found no evidence of this ceremony taking place in other areas of the region.

Cooking and eating dog or wolf meat should have been taboo at the time. But the research results show that, during the maturity ceremony, young Srubnaya boys worshiped and absorbed the souls of this animal and turned into werewolves. The ritual seemed to be carried out continuously by the Srubnaya people.

This practice involves Indo-European culture with the legend that men will turn into dogs or wolves during the process of becoming warriors, according to Anthony and Brown. The study also describes in detail how the Srubnaya people sacrifice dogs and behead their heads into small parts.

Based on the arrangement of dog bones, archaeologists conclude that they do not kill dogs as a daily food but to perform traditional rituals in winter.

Archaeologists also claim that these dogs and wolves are the pets of young boys. When they reach puberty, they have to kill and eat them. After sacrificing and eating dog meat, the boys believed that they had exploited the power of the dog and could become a werewolf. They formed warrior teams and attacked nearby lands.

Earlier, the team unearthed animal bones in similar locations and discovered, dogs about 7-12 years old, meaning the boys had been feeding them for years before killing and eating meat.
