Scientists found a well in Athens, Greece, with inscriptions called the Prophet Apollo, indicating that the ancient people wanted to borrow fortune-telling to know the future.

Ancient wells reveal the divination rite of divine bridges

The old well was found along with a temple in Kerameikos, in central Athens, to call Apollo god for the future, through the water view to find the message this god sent.

A team of experts at the German Institute of Archeology is currently studying this area. They said the temple to sacrifice and asked for guidance from the prophet was used since the beginning of Roman times.

According to Archeology News Network, the discovery is of special importance because it is the first and only place in Athens to use prophecy of Apollo , and confirm the worship of this ancient god and his brother. Artemis.

The wall of the well has the words: ΕΛΘΕ ΜΟΙ Ω ΠΑΙΑΝ ΦΕΡΩΝ ΤΟ ΜΑΝΤΕΙΟΝ ΑΛΗΘΕC, temporarily translated as "Let me know the true prophecy of the future of Apollo" . In the area there are 20 inscriptions with the content.

The common worship of gods and goddesses in the same place indicates a positive dichotomy . Apollo is very famous for pursuing beautiful goddesses, worshiped as the guardian of cattle and patron gods of cities. Meanwhile, Artemis often protects the virgin, being the goddess of nature and hunting.

Apart from Kerameikos temple in Athens, Apollo has many other temples. In the temple of Delphi on Mount Paranassus, Greece, Pythia, a young virgin nun, will repeat the prophecies that Apollo revealed. This is a form of worship and ask for other instructions with the custom of divination in Kerameikos.
