10 major rivers in the world are under threat
The source of life for millions of Asians is seriously threatened. Yesterday, the WWF Nature Fund issued a warning about the situation of 10 major rivers in the world, including the Nile, Rio Grande, Danube, Truong Giang, Mekong, Salween, Ganges, and Indian rivers. muscle is depleted due to poor planning and lack of protection.
Currently, the Changjiang River in China, as a result of decades of industrialization and construction of hydropower dams, has become one of the most polluted rivers in the world. Meanwhile, excessive fishing is happening in the Mekong River. The water of many rivers such as the Indian River, the Ganges River in Asia, the Nile River in Africa can no longer flow to the sea. Large dams have destroyed the habitat and cut the river out of the familiar flow basin. Climate change can also affect the thousands of years of rivers.
The drought of rivers may affect freshwater supplies and aquatic life and millions of people in the downstream will be affected. Fish in rivers, sources of protein and nutrition for hundreds of thousands of communities around the world are also threatened by this disaster. WWF called on governments to quickly take better management of common water sources to minimize the damage of this situation.
