10th anniversary of the establishment of the International Space Station

On November 2, the countries participating in the International Space Station (ISS) program celebrate the 10th anniversary of the ISS founding (November 2, 2000-2 / 11/2010).

To mark this great event, astronauts working on ISS conduct a half-hour press conference with reporters from many countries focusing on Russian space flight control centers. and the US.

According to the scientific world, ISS is a big step in the development of space technology. In 10 years of existence and development, "ISS orbit " has welcomed 189 people from 15 countries, some of whom even went to ISS twice.

Over the past 10 years, ISS has become the " space station " for 95 spacecraft of Russia, America, Europe and Japan.

ISS began construction in November 1998 with the precursor of the " Ranging " Russian transport-function compartment. Now ISS has become a quite comfortable "apartment", weighing about 400 tons, with five Russian, six American, one European and one Japanese.

This November, Discovery's US shuttle spacecraft will bring up an ISS module named Leonardo that astronauts will use as a " warehouse ." Subsequently, a multipurpose Russian test module will be posted to ISS in 2012.
