USS Gerald R. Ford has applied many new technologies such as the electromagnetic discharge system (EMALS), replacing the steam engine launch system that is equipped for current carriers.

At 337 meters in length, Ford is expected to transport more than 75 aircraft, most of which will be variants of the F-35. However, due to technical and transfer issues, it is likely that Ford will not be able to equip the F-35, at least until the end of 2018.

Recently, the US tested the take-off and landing of the Super Hornet F / A-18F on Ford's deck. As planned, the USS Gerald R. Ford will be fully operational and staffed for the US Navy by 2022.

USS John F. Kennedy is the second Gerald R. Ford-class aircraft carrier to the US Navy. As of June 2017, shipbuilding has completed 50%.

Kennedy is currently being stationed at Huntington Ingalls Industrial Complex in Newport News, Virginia. Initially, the aircraft carrier was expected to be completed in 2018, but it faced many problems during the closing process, mainly arising from the high cost of Gerald R. Ford when being capitalized at over 22%, breaking the 12.8 billion mark in 2008.

The US Government Auditing Agency (GAO) has proposed to postpone the time to bring the ship into use in 2013, to retreat to 2020.

Type 002 will run on nuclear power, thereby helping China become the only third country in the world to own carriers powered by nuclear engines after the US and France.

Type 002 will also be equipped with an electromagnetic discharge system (EMALS), which allows it to launch more types of aircraft, instead of just J-15, the only type of fighter that can launch from the first two carriers. of China.
