1,400-year-old factory creates 'timeless' treasures
Archaeologists in the UK have unearthed an ancient workshop near the world-famous Sutton Hoo boat grave that may have been the source of treasures that astound modern people.
In addition to the tomb where King Raedwald rested in a boat, Sutton Hoo also includes two large ancient cemeteries in use from the 6th to 7th centuries, located near Woodbridge, Suffork, England. In it there are many boat graves, depending on the size of the tomb of King Raedwald, but very luxurious and the burial items in each grave are worthy of a treasure.
The amazingly sophisticated knight's hat has been created from the ancient workshop
According to Ancient Origins, many of those precious Anglo Saxon burial items were created by newly excavated bones. It was called the Rendelesham mill, where remnants of many spinning reels, looms, brooches and brass buckles were found.
An elaborate knight's hat was even found, possibly in the process of being worked on for King Raedwald.
A spokesman for Suffolk County told the Daily Mail they had found the "treasure workshop" from the remains of molten metal and copper slag, which showed signs of metallurgy.
What has just been unearthed may be part of a vast craft center where the ancient Anglo Saxons displayed their "timeless" talents with exquisite pieces that made goldsmiths complete today must also be amazed.
One of the exquisite jewels of gold and precious stones
A major excavation, involving many archaeologists and 150 volunteers, most of them children from nearby Rendlesham Primary School, was organized. Professor Chris Scull, the project's lead consultant, said Renlesham was a "royal center of power" of the medieval East Anglian Kingdom over which Raedwald once ruled.
Many strange and beautiful treasures made of gold, silver, and precious stones, with many imported materials, have been found at this remarkable monument.
