Samsung Medical Center, one of the hospitals in the capital Seoul , is where the MERS flu spreads the most. On June 14, the hospital announced that they would stop performing surgery except in an emergency 'to focus exclusively on MERS' efforts to deal. More than 50 cases of MERS infection in Korea originate from here.

Song Jae Hoon, Chairman of Samsung Health Center, took responsibility and apologized to the people for letting MERS spread. A month ago, the hospital received a man with fever and cough. The 68-year-old patient returned to Korea after arriving in four Middle Eastern countries. He was the first patient infected with MERS in Korea.

In response to the pandemic , the Korean government closed nearly 3,000 schools. 2,854 people are quarantined because of contact with people with MERS. Many schools will reopen on June 15, but at least 440 schools are still closed.
