2020: Korea will launch the probe to the Moon
Like some neighboring countries in Asia, South Korea will join the space adventure and publish an ambitious program of launching a probe to the Moon by 2020.
' Korea will launch a probe into orbit around the Moon in 2020 and another probe will land on the planet in 2025, ' said a spokesman for the Korean Ministry of Science.
To do this, South Korea will develop a 300-ton KSLV-II rocket worth 2.4 billion euros. The KSLV-II missile will be launched in 2017. In the first phase, the 170-ton KSLV-I rocket will be launched at the end of 2008.
South Korea also plans to use its missiles to orbit a 100kg satellite every 3 or 4 years and 10kg satellites a year.
South Korea's Naro Space Center in the south of the peninsula will be put into operation next year.
