34kg pearl blocks in Filipino fisherman's house

A pearl worth $ 100 million collected by a Filipino fisherman is five times larger than the previous record holder.

Mirror yesterday reported that an unnamed Filipino fisherman found a pearl weighs 34kg 10 years ago in the waters off Palawan island and stored in the house for sewing without knowing its value.

A fire at his home earlier this year made him relocate and moved the pearl to the local tourist office in Puerto Princesca. The staff at the travel department confirmed that this was a product of an extremely large son, which could be worth up to $ 100 million.

Pearl blocks are 0.3 meters wide and 0.7 meters long, 5 times larger than Allah pearls holding a world record of 6.4kg and worth 35 million USD, found in Palawan, Philippines, in 1934.

Aileen Cynthia Amurao, a tourist officer, said the fisherman found pearls when diving into the sea to remove the anchor stuck in the rock.

"We were surprised when the fisherman brought the pearls. We are in need of gem examiners to help certify and wait for verification from the Pearl Research Institute and other international organizations. I'm sure this is the world's largest natural pearl born by a giant son, we'll keep it in the Philippines to attract tourists to visit the city , " Amurao said.
