5 Vietnamese scientists are among the most influential in the world

Thomson Reuters, the world's leading organization for monitoring and publishing knowledge information, has just released a list of the 3,000 most influential scientists in the world in 2016 . Including 5 Vietnamese scientists, mainly living and working abroad, two third scientists were honored.

The third time, the third person was honored as Associate Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Hung (Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology) and Prof. Dr. Nguyen Son Binh (Northwestern University, USA). Three other scientists were honored including Prof. Dr. Vo Van Anh (Queensland University of Technology, Australia), Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thuc Quyen (Univ University of Santa Barbara, USA) and Dr. Tran Phan Lam Son (Research Institute) rescue Riken, Japan).

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Hung is a lecturer in the Department of Construction, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, Director of the CIRTech Research Center - under HUTECH High-Tech Institute. According to Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, the studies of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Hung focus mainly on developing powerful computing and simulation tools on computers, being applied to Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. Biology, Materials. Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Xuan Hung graduated from the University of Natural Sciences, Ho Chi Minh City National University, received a master's degree in the field of continuous environmental mechanics, and a doctoral thesis in the field of computational mechanics at the University Liège, Belgium. He is the only domestic scientist to be honored this year.

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Son Binh is 49 years old, studying in the design of soft materials for applications in catalyst chemistry, medicine and material science. He works at the Department of Chemistry, Northwestern University. Before that, he graduated with a bachelor's degree in chemistry from PennState University (USA) and received a master's degree at California Institute of Technology. He used to study postdoctoral research under the National Science Foundation (NSF) program at Scripps Research Institute (USA).

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thuc Quyen is a lecturer of science and biochemistry at the University of California. She studied organic electronic devices. She graduated from doctor and doctorate at Washington University after earning a bachelor's degree in psychology and biology at the University of Southern California. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thuc Quyen was noticed by the scientific community for his contributions in color coding surgery methods, a method to help doctors easily surgery to remove cancer cells from the body without missing out.

The fourth Vietnamese scientist was honored as Prof. Dr. Vo Van Anh, working at the Faculty of Science and Engineering, Queensland University of Technology, Australia. His specialization is Mathematics Science, Computational Mathematics and Applications.

Dr. Tran Phan Lam Son, first honored by Thomson Reuters, was the laboratory operator at Japan's Riken Research Institute. He studied the field of plants.

Of the 3,000 most influential scientists in the world, published by Thomson Reuters this year, the United States ranked first with about 1,500 scientists, followed by Britain, about 360 scientists. In Southeast Asia, Singapore is headed by 27 scientists and Malaysia 6 scientists, Vietnam surpassed Thailand with 5 scientists, Thailand has 3 scientists.
