Three most influential Vietnamese scientists in the world in 2014

Thomson Reuters is a world-leading organization for monitoring and publishing knowledge information about global professionals who have reported a list of more than 3,000 'most influential' scientists in 2014. In the list there are only 3 Vietnamese.

The first one is Professor Dam Thanh Son who is teaching at the University of Chicago, USA about physics.

The second is Professor Nguyen Son Binh (SonBinh T. Nguyen) who is teaching at Northwestern University, USA for chemistry.

The third person is the most new thing. It is PGST Nguyen Xuan Hung, who is teaching, researching science in Vietnam, Vietnam University of Science and Vietnam - Germany Saigon University about mechanical computing. In the Thomson Reuters list, Vice President Nguyen Xuan Hung is listed in the 'Computer Science' list.

Prof. Dam Thanh Son

I am very happy with the unexpected achievements of the PGST Nguyen Xuan Hung because this person is a student of EU-EMMC class (HCM City University of Technology, 2001-2003) who did a master's thesis and then a doctor led by me , successfully defended at Liège University, Belgium.

Currently, PGST Nguyen Xuan Hung is the Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the scientific newspaper 'Asia Pacific Journal of Computational Engineering, APJCEN' which I am the Editor-in-Chief!

My pleasure has not stopped here because there are 3 other people listed on the Thomson Reuters list as a member of the APJCEN editorial board.

They are Professor Liu Gui Rong, University of Cincinnati, Professor Liu Wing Kam, Northwestern University, and my two Editors.

The third is Professor Rabczuk Timon, University of Bauhaus, Weimar, Germany.

The professor has just volunteered to be the special editor of APJCEN coming this year with the theme: 'Latest trends in mechanical computing'.

This is a comprehensive project of a large team of professionals with not less than 4,000 people including all science and technology sectors being implemented by most countries in the world, natural science and technology, engineering, medicine, economics-business .

They followed publications and scientific works that were published in 2013, they evaluated the authors through the effects of the works, the number of times cited by other authors, each author was mainly based on 25 Latest postings.

International scientific journalism, research centers, and universities have received this document as an assessment of the most impartial scientific achievements. If you use the phrase 'highly cited hunter 2014' to find information on Google, then there are dense articles of school centers about the place of your agency or locality on the list.

Here I do not mean to go into the global evaluation analysis, I just declare some details that Vietnamese people care about.

Indeed, after the warning bells about the tragic state of Vietnam's scientific publication, everyone wants to know what is worth mentioning for Vietnam in 2014?

The Thomson Reuters report stated that the most interesting and discussed scientific event was the discovery of HIGGS county because there were fewer than 500 published works in this area.

The two hottest research industries on the planet are:

1. Biomedecine (Biomedecine)

2. Nano materials (Nonomaterials)
