A grave of Tutankhamun dynasty officials was discovered

Archaeologists have just discovered the tomb of an official of the 18th dynasty of Egypt - the reign of Tutankhamun (around 1341-1323 BC) - in the area of ​​Sheikh Abdel-Gournah on the west bank. of Luxor city, about 800km south of Cairo.

A group of Spanish and Italian researchers, performing regular excavations on the western bank of Luxor, touched the supposedly grave of Maayi , a top official of the 18th dynasty.

Egyptian Antiquities Minister Mohamed Ibrahim said the excavation team accidentally found the grave through a hole in the wall of the tomb of TT109, in the area of ​​Sheikh Abdel-Gournah.

The grave wall paintings show that Maayi was in a different position from family members, providing details about his life and family relationships.

"The tomb is very well decorated, reflecting the master's extravagant life , " Ibrahim said, adding that a mural depicting a party with men and women gathered before a Dining table full of foods.

According to Minister Ibrahim, the grave has only been partially discovered due to fragments blocking the entrance. Excavation work is still ongoing to explore the rest of the grave.
