A HCMC resident made his own solar cookers

Thanks to a self-developed solar cookers, it is possible to cook rice, boil water, boil vegetables ., Mr. Do Van Tran (49 years old, in District 8, HCMC) saves a large amount of gas. Serving the whole family for over 1 year.

Although he earned his living by a profession that was not related to the field of scientific research as interior decoration, he still successfully invented a solar-powered kitchen.

"From a young age, I liked exploring machines and mechanics. In 1994, I accidentally bought a book about rural solar energy. After reading the book, I immediately wanted to do it myself. a 10-year-old cook like me, but I started to realize my dream 10 years later .

The material that makes up Tran's sun stove is mainly aluminum, iron and inock. The total cost of the kitchen is estimated at VND 4.5 million.

The kitchen includes components such as parabolic reflector, kitchen cabinet, transmission parts that transmit heat to the kitchen cabinet. The inside of the kitchen cabinet has several types of foam and foam, which retain heat. The heat sink consists of two glass tubes that help to keep the heat out, the heat transfer unit is composed of a small copper tube of about 2.2 meters long to transfer heat to the kitchen.

Tran's solar cookers are operated by automatic control and manual controls, the parabolic pan will automatically turn after operating; Where the sun is, the pan will automatically turn in that direction. About 5pm the parabolic pan will automatically stop in the west. 6am the next morning, the pan will automatically turn east to catch the sunlight.

Mr. Tran said, the type of stove he invented has the advantage of being "superior" to other parabolic cookers in that the user does not have to stand in the sun to cook in the basin. Thus, during use, there is no direct exposure to sunlight (nearly 200 degrees Celsius).

Moreover, while other parabolic pans can only be used when it is sunny and lose heat when there is strong wind, Tran's sun stove can still be used when it is cool. Even when it rains, it is still cooking because there is a heat storage system for 3-4 hours.

Mr. Tran's solar stove has a life expectancy of 7-10 years.

Reportedly, the solar cookers invented by Mr. Tran have won the consolation prize at the "Ho Chi Minh City's 18th Technical Innovation Contest " launched by Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology.
